Andrew Wyeth

Andrew Wyeth died last week. Christina's World is one of his best-known paintings. He's always fascinated me for the delicacy of his brushwork and the stunning beauty of his draftsmanship. The stripped-down world of Chadd's Ford, Wyeth's subtle earthy palette full of light and wind entices and unsettles me. His painted universe lives somewhere far away from the neon of our world.

See the New York Times obituary for a good summary of his life. (Well, he was 91 when he died -- it's not like they didn't have time to work on it.)

Very reminiscent of "Howard's World."
