"I will not make any more boring art." John Baldessari http://www.baldessari.org/ |
A Brief History of John Baldessari (http://youtu.be/eU7V4GyEuXA). This was commissioned in 2012 by LACMA for their first annual "Art + Film Gala," directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman of Supermarché. It is narrated by gravel man himself Tom Waits and it's about Baldessari, who is a major figure in conceptual art in addition to being very tall and having a pretty white beard.
Second a video interview:
"Studio Visit" Just Baldessari explaining his work in an interview. If you're looking for the shortest path to an explanation of his work, this is it, pal: http://bit.ly/XHxhzU

That was very cool documentary. The visuals were well cut, told a story, and had a snappy pace. (I am a snappy pace critic). And, Tom Waits was not only the narrator but somewhat of a neighbor in some tiny town in California near the Mexican border.
